Death Veins

45 min

Documentário

There are 5 thousand Portuguese miners waiting for the verdict that will close the Spanish coal mines. Once the engine of the industrial revolution, this old fuel is no longer profitable and Europe decided to replace it by other fuels. During the next 4 years, those Portuguese men and their families risk to stay out of work, being forced to return to Portugal.

But while the verdict does not arrive and the mine is not closed, these men keep on staying there at the bottom of the earth, working in galeries threatened by collapsing and by the methane explosions, searching for a vein which, in fact, has never been of gold, although it has oftern been a real "Death Vein", as Jacinto Godinho calls his coverage.
