Vidas Desperdiçadas (19??)

Thrown Down Lives

Documentário

The land’s property has always been the centre of the great revolts that marked history.

Already in this century, the cases of the Soviet Union and China left Brazil in a peculiar position of being the only giant that never thought about the issue of the land’s property. Some farms in Brazil are about the size of Alentejo and some others belong to Portuguese people.

These owners are one of the sides of the barricade; on the other side there are 5 million families (around 12 million Brazilians), real legions of desinherited people claiming for a piece of that same land.

Between both sides of the barricade the issue is solved with gunshots, often synonymous of slaughter.

The great coverage "Thrown down lives" by Jacinto Godinho is also made on both sides of the barricade.
