The issue of the water within the Iberian Peninsula may become the greatest challenge to Portugal and Spain at the end of this century. Spain presented a solution two years ago, a proposal for a drainage system all over the country, deviating the course of the rivers to artificial channels. The rivers Douro, Tagus and Guadiana are the most affected with the Spanish Hydrological Plan.
