Bay Of Treasures

Documentário

The island of Terceira in the Azores is a sanctuary of wrecks and treasures lying in the bottom of the sea. During the apogeee of Angra do Heroísmo on the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries several ships called the bay, ensuring trade between Europe and the New World.
There were so many ships staying there forever that the bay of Angra do Heroísmo finally gathered one of the world’s most important cultural subaquatic patrimony. The waters surrounding the island of Terceira are coveted by the most powerful treasure hunters.
Part of this patrimony is threatened because of the construction of a marine on the bay. In order to rescue the assets and prior to the start of the construction the Museum of Angra do Heroísmo intends to run a rescue operation of subaquatic archaelogy. After much controversy the Ministry of Culture has given permission and the operation is about to start.
The treasure map in our imagination has finally always existed and is still to be discovered. The location may be the bay of Angra do Heroísmo, a real bay of treasures, now threatened by the concrete of modernism. And more than silver coins or gold ingots, the treasures that are still to be discovered are those of the knowledge of what has been the greatest adventure of Mankind.
